about lucia
Lucia is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, sound-healer and educator from Sevilla, Spain, based between the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles. Her distinct voice and lush arrangements are matched by elegant recordings in a genre she calls 'dream folk’. She’s also heavily influenced by Soul, trip-hop, and world music.
Lucia’s songs are songs of refuge; love poems to the earth, and explorations on the self. In the words of Jai Uttal, “her unmistakable voice and lush arrangements carry the current of divine beauty.
Over the years her music has led to studio and live collaborations with Sonic Devas, Grammy-winning producer Malcolm Burn (Bob Dylan, Jeff Buckley), Julie Wolf (Ani Difranco, Sia), Grammy-nominated Jai Uttal, music troubadour Murray Kyle, Jonathan Richman (The Modern Lovers), Joey Maramba (Rickie Lee Jones, John Cale), Lorca Hart (Meklit, Freddie Hubbard), Chris Haugen (Phil Lesh), and Sudhananda, amongst others.
She has dedicated her life to music; first trained as a classical pianist at the Madrid Conservatory, she then studied jazz at Berklee College of music, and vocal improvisation with luminaries Rhiannon and Bobby McFerrin.
When she is not writing, or performing, Lucia mentors students on her online portal, The Voice Lab, guiding singers to the blossoming of their own voice and connection to spirit.
Lilikoi’s songs have been featured alongside Rising Appalachia, Tina Malia, Deva Premal and Simrit. Her original music has been featured on tv shows (‘The L Word,’), and she’s scored music for documentary films (‘Sold in America,’ 2009, and ‘The Future of Energy,’ 2013, featuring luminary Buddhist ecologist, Joanna Macy). Lucia has performed her original music at prestigious venues all over the world, including The House of Blues Hollywood, The Alcázar of Sevilla, Natural High Healing Festival in Finland, Esalen in Big Sur, and Gibson Guitar Studios in London, to name a few.
